PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND goes Art - Ryan McGinley photographs Tilda Swinton in the Scottish Highlands
One might deem the new PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND campaign an odd summit meeting, as Tilda Swinton, who happens to stem from Scottish high nobility, and Ryan McGinley rendezvoused up in the Scottish highlands. This has not only enabled the label to grab its fair share of attention but has also firmly placed it in an art context, and just in time for its 195th birthday too.
Last summer, the highly acclaimed ‘Queen of Independent Cinema’ actress wandered across the gentle hilly Scottish landscape, clad in cashmere dresses and fine textiles for the new campaign. This partly recalls her role as the White Witch in ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’. Photographer and director Ryan McGinley, who recently shot models like wild animals on a nocturnal prowl for Wrangler, captured her ethereal beauty on camera. Images were also photographed in the young photographer’s preferred cave setting.
GoSee is pleased to present the art film, which was realised in collaboration with Creative Director Clare Waight. Unfortunately there isn’t a making-of, which is such a shame, as we would liked to have heard what the Oscar winner and celebrated art photographer had to say during the photo and film shoot.
