04. Shotview : THE COMMON MIND exhibition in New York, ST. EMILE, male model PATRICK KAFKA, PUMA

THE COMMON MIND at CUETO PROJECT is the title of the exhibition which is own shown at the Valerie Cuetos Gallery in New York. SHOTVIEW-Artist Christina KRUSE, as well as Elinor Milchan, Tatyana Murray and Eve Bailey all present their work, creating a dialogue of photography, drawing, installation, sculpture and performance. Christina is exhibiting self portraits which alternate between matt and shiny paper, so that the figures appear absorbed and lost.

The latest STERN photography special is dedicated to Nobuyoshi Araki, and boy are we certain that there isn’t anyone else out there that can tie up beautiful women as skilfully as the Japanese master of photography. Araki is definitely the Japan’s most famous photographer, but his popularity is not exclusive to the country. It is difficult to describe Araki’s elaborate array of work with European photography terms. None would suffice to explain the 69 year old’s almost manic picture capturing, having published over 300 photo books and sleeping as they say, with a camera on his bedside table each night.

Three SPOTS, which draw attention to the individual sneakers, were especially produced for the new internet campaign. These focus on the LUXOR (conceptual), BRAG (sophisticated) and BASQUE (commercial) shoe models.

20. Mikael Kennedy Exhibition : THE WINE DARK SEA at Melanie Flood Projects

Melanie Flood Projects presents “The Wine Dark Sea” from Mikael Kennedy’s The Odysseus Series, on show from 9 July onwards. The title of the series, “The Wine Dark Sea,” refers to the passage in Homer’s epic tale in which Odysseus sits by the shore, captive of the goddess Calypso, longing to return home to his family and his land. However, just to clear things up, the images represented in this series are American coastlines photographed between 2006 and 2009.
